Best Sex Swings And How To Use Them

S
ex swings combine two of the most fun things on earth (you guessed it, sex and swings). But aside from sex swings being a really fun, seemingly genius invention, why else should you and your partner try one out?
"Generally speaking, sex swings offer endless possibilities for positions," says Tino Dietrich, CEO of Ella Paradis, "you just need to be creative and ready to have fun. Once you get more experience and understand how to use the swing, it can offer a vast variety of different positions that you and your partner can engage in – without too much effort."
Ready to explore the wild world of sex swings? Here's what the experts (and a few real sex swing enthusiasts) had to say about how to set one up, the best positions to try, what type of swing you should purchase and more.

1. Sex Swing Setup 101

The process of setting up a swing in your home might sound like a lot of effort. But with a little guidance on the best practices for getting the job done, you and your partner will be in full swing in no time. The first thing you need to decide is where you're going to put your swing. For beginners, Stacy Rybchin, CEO of My Secret Luxury recommends using a doorway to set your swing up. "It's easiest and most convenient way to use a sex swing," she says.
"However, it does slightly limit your range of motion." But if ease of setup is higher on your priority list than range of motion, an over the door setup is probably your best bet. The first step? "Find the center of your doorway and mark that spot," says Rybchin, "and insert an entire eyelet screw," "Once the eyelet screw is in, do not remove it." Some swings come with the hardware, and others require more of a DIY job — so make sure you read the fine print when you're shopping for one.
Another option is to hang your sex swing from a sturdy ceiling. "To get the full benefit of a sex swing’s mobility, hang it in an open room," Rybchin says. "Locate a strong ceiling beam and insert the entire eyelet screw." Once it's set up, you're free to move about as you please, without being restricted by your door frame.

If this whole DIY, hammer-and-nails approach is just not going to happen, using a swing stand allows you all the perks of a swing with minimal setup. "They are sturdy, portable, easy to set up, and don’t involve putting holes in your ceiling," says Rybchin.
Another easy setup method would be to opt for a swing that hangs over a door, rather than in the doorway. Just be aware of the weight restrictions. "If you are using an over the door system, I recommend making sure the door is hefty enough to support the weight of the person in the swing," says sexologist Dr. Megan Stubbs.
No matter what method you choose (or how excited you are to just get to the action already), setting up a sex swing is not the time to disregard the manual — no matter how tempting it may be. "Make sure you read the instructions!" Dr. Stubbs cautions. "If you are using a stand-alone version or something that is mounted within a cage, be mindful of all of your clasps and attachments and weight restrictions. Be willing to set up the swing, get in it, feel it out, get out, and make adjustments if necessary. You want this to be a fun experience, so don't rush the set-up."

2. The Best Sex Swings You Can Buy

You've settled on a setup, now it's time to find the perfect swing for what you're trying to do. Here's a guide to the different types of swings out there on the market, and what to consider before buying each one.

For Extra Support

If you want to make sure both you and your partner aren't going to break something while trying out this new endeavor, a sturdy swing built for support is the way to go. "With padded supports for the back, buttocks, thighs, feet and calves, this swing even has a torque bar for added support," says Rybchin. "Extra-wide nylon straps with self-tightening buckles are adjustable for an exact fit. It's easy to install, and can hold up to 400 lbs."

For A Quick Setup

"Sportsheets offers an over-the-door sex swing," says Dr. Stubbs. "This is great because it can be portable and doesn't require any drilling or assembly." But if you're looking to do something more complex once you're actually in the swing, be aware that you won't have the advantage of range of motion. "The cons are that you are limited to how many positions you can use the swing for," says Dr. Stubbs. "It isn't conducive for actual swinging or free 360 motion."
For 360-Degree Motion
"Pipedream offers a fantasy swing stand, which is great because it doesn't require you to make any changes to your home and is portable," Dr. Stubbs explains. "This free standing swing can be used for 360 degree sex, and depending on the weight limit, support both of you at the same time." However, having this much fun and freedom will cost you. "Cons for this device are that is is quite the investment in terms of cost, assembly is required, and you are limited to what height comes standard with the stand."

For Your Most Wild Ride

If total range of motion is of utmost importance, consider a swing that also gives you the ability to spin around. "This is great for 360 degree sex," says Dr. Stubbs, "and you have full range of motion because this device is mounted to the ceiling. Since this is a central hook up, you can adjust the height to whatever level is most comfortable for you." As for the draw backs? "Cons are that you have to mount it to the ceiling," says Dr. Stubbs. "You are limited by what your building specifications are and whether or not you want to keep it in the room it's set up in. This setup can also be a bit pricy — but not as much as the stand alone sex swing."

What Real Women Say: "When I purchased my sex swing, I knew I wanted the best and I wanted to go all out!" says Ashley, 26. "I wanted to make sure I could go face down or up and make sure that it had a bolt so it could spin around. I bought the Pipedream and was definitely not disappointed! We have had a ridiculous amount of fun sex on this swing. Plus it's really easy to take down and stick in the closet. You just keep the bolt attached to the ceiling. If you're looking to have a lot of fun and if you want to splurge, this is the swing for you."

3. The Best Sex Swing Positions

So, you've made the purchase and set up your swing. Ready to have some fun? Here are a few sex positions perfect for doing in a swing.

On Your Knees

"One partner lies on their back in the swing and the other kneels on the floor with their face in the suspended partner’s crotch," explains Dr. Jess O'Reilly, Astroglide's resident sexologist. "Because many swings have open slats on the bottom, you have even more access to their nether regions in this position."

Push Me

Kind of like aerial aerobics, but while you're having sex. "One partner sits in the swing with their feet hanging pendulous and leans forward (holding onto straps with their hands if available)," says Dr. O'Reilly. "The other stands behind them and holds onto their hips as they slide inside." in this doggy-style-inspired position.

Swinging Cowgirl

Your classic cowgirl, but elevated off the ground. "One partner sits back in the swing," explains Dr. O'Reilly. "The other climbs atop straddling them with their feet on the floor. If the supine partner takes their feet off of the floor, it allows the partner on top to take control."

Giddy-Up Stirrups

If your sex swing comes with foot straps, use them to your advantage to hit just the right angle of penetration. "One partner lies back on the swing and stretches their feet out against the lower straps," Dr. O'Reilly explains. "The other partner stands on the floor between their legs so that they’re face-to-face. In this position, the standing partner can keep their hips still and simply pull their partner in using their hands against the straps/cords of the swing."

69

If you've never tried this out before, a sex swing can be a perfect opportunity to engage in 69ing. "This go-to oral sex position is even hotter in a swing, as you don’t have to deal with the weight of your partner on top of you (or worry about holding yourself up using your arms)," says Dr. O'Reilly. "One partner lies on their back in the swing. The other bends over with their crotch in the supine partner’s face. Easy as pie!"

Lap Dance

"One partner sits in the swing and the other sits on their lap," says Dr. O'Reilly. "Both partners keep their feet on the floor. You can try this one face-to-face or rear-entry. This position can facilitate smoother, more rhythmic motions when you’re in a swing, as you sway with its support and guidance."
